Software issues forced to T-Mobile to delay an over the air rollout of Android 2.2 to the Galaxy S yesterday, but it still plans to make the update available today via Samsung’s Kies proprietary download solution today.
The update’s failure to arrive has sparked a frenzy of fury from Galaxy S owners on T-Mobile customer support forums, who're irked at further delays to an OS revamp to Froyo that they were originally promised back in September.
A statement from a site moderator posted yesterday indicates that we might be waiting a while longer to be able to get Froyo over the air, but that users should be able to get it via Kies today.
The mod stated: “The software guys have been working on it all day, the latest info is that the FOTA update still isn't ready to be deployed and that Samsung will host the Kies update on their site tomorrow asap, although we haven't got a confirmed time as yet.”
If you don’t want to wait for the air-borne update and want to grab it earlier, we’d suggest downloading Kies to your PC/Mac now to avoid the rush. Once you’ve got that you’ll be able to grab Froyo as soon as it hits and transfer it to your smartie from there.
