Samsung Galaxy S owners on 3 can look forward to Android 2.2, AKA Froyo, soon, a Tweet from the carrier suggests.
This week, saw T-Mobile confirm plans to push out Froyo to Galaxy S owners, after it cleared network testing. However, it seems that the rollout hasn’t gone anything like as smoothly as planned, with a slew of owners reporting they’ve yet to receive it (see comments section).
Today, 3 has hinted via its Twitter feed that it’s almost ready to start its own rollout for owners of Samsung’s best-selling Android smartphone.
In response to entreaties from followers for concrete news about Froyo, 3 didn’t name a date, but did reveal that an “announcement on the update [is] coming soon”.
What’s not yet clear is whether 3 will attempt to push out Froyo over the air – much more convenient for the likes of you and me - or whether Galaxy S owners will need to grab Samsung’s Kies proprietary download solution to their PCs first and transfer the system overhaul to their handsets.
