As well as giving us a good look at Android 2.3, AKA Gingerbread, which is set to debut on the phone, the video also sees Rubin extolling the virtues of the handset’s Galaxy S-aping Super AMOLED display.
Other specs confirmed for the device include a five-megapixel camera at the rear, a secondary front-facing snapper for video calling, a 1Ghz processor, 16GB of memory and the usual gamut of connectivity options (3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth).
Rubin gushed: “Gingerbread is the fastest version of Android yet, and it delivers a number of improvements, such as user interface refinements, NFC support, a new keyboard and text selection tool, Internet (VoIP/SIP) calling, improved copy/paste functionality and gyroscope sensor support.”
The good news, if you were planning to grab the handset ASAP, is that Carphone has already started pre-orders and will be offering the handset for free from £35 per month on T-Mobile and Vodafone.
This two-year contract tariff offers 500 texts per month, plus 600 minutes and 500Mb of web use. Alternatively, for £40 per month, you get 900 minutes, 500 texts and 750Mb of Internet.
Carphone has pledged to ship the handset to pre-order customers by the end of December.
