HTC Wildfire users on the 3 network can expect an upgrade to Android 2.2 at the end of the month, the carrier has confirmed.
A bump to Android 2.2, AKA Froyo, will bring a host of new features to the handset, not least among them the option to use your phone as a surrogate mobile broadband dongle via the soon to be added tethering function.
The good news from 3 is that testing is in an advanced state, meaning that the update is now but weeks away at most. According to a tweet from the carrier, we can now expect it to be pushed out at the” end of Jan”.
Other additions you can look forward to when it arrives include swanky HD video recording in 720p, plus support for Adobe’s Flash Player 10.1 for watching clips and playing games using the onboard web browser.
T-Mobile and Vodafone updated the Wildfire to Froyo late last year.
