Fresh rumours have hit the street that the successor to Apple’s hot-selling iPad may be only weeks away, or at least according to Kevin Rose, the founder of social news aggregator Digg.
While we have no doubt an iPad 2 will be definitely announced this year, most likely in spring, as is usually the case with most Apple products, Rose thinks otherwise, as he wrote in his blog: “I have it on good authority that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next "3-4 weeks", possibly Tuesday February 1st.”
He added that the “iPad 2 will feature a Retina display and front/back cameras” and advised that “if you're thinking of buying an iPad, hold off for now”.
However, before you get too excited, Rose later added, after reportedly speaking with another source, that although the screen will be a “higher dpi” it won’t be a Retina display, which would be a crying shame if it turns out to be true.
That said, as with any rumour, we recommend you take this with a sizable grain of salt. We don’t doubt the credibility of Rose for his obvious reputation, so for the time being, perhaps it would be advisable to do as he says and hold off on purchasing an iPad unless you’re in a real hurry.
