Honda has created an augmented reality iPhone application with a difference: It allows users to interact with its new TV ad campaign in real time.
The Unpredictable Life app snycronises with the ad so that users can control what’s happening while it’s on TV. Viewers with the inclination to get involved are tasked with ‘catching’ four characters that feature the promo, which is simply a matter of swiping their iPhone in the vicinity of the screen when the cutie as a button creations pop up.

According to Honda, the application works thanks to some cutting-edge audio recognition and so-called “screen-hopping” tech that gives viewers cues when the character they’re after is about to pop up on their TV.
The app is free to download now from the App Store. UK commercial channels started showing the ad yesterday, so keep ‘em peeled.
