The HTC Desire S and Wildfire S will be available on almost all the major mobile operators in the UK, it has been confirmed.
The handsets, which were announced this morning at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) at Barcelona, will be landing on heavyweights Vodafone, O2, Orange and 3 from April. We’re still awaiting word from T-Mobile but you can almost certainly count them on board too.
The Desire S is succeeds the critically and commercially acclaimed original Desire. While it houses the same 3.7-inch panel as its predecessor, it also packs a gamut of top-notch specs that include a new 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a front-facing VGA for video calling and a rather sleek aluminium unibody casing reminiscent of the HTC Legend. Better yet, it will run Android 2.4, aka Ice Cream out of the box.
The Wildfire, meanwhile, sports a compact 3.2-inch HVGA display, a five-megapixel snapper with face detection, geo tagging and LED flash, a microSD slot of expandable storage of up to 32GB, plus a raft of extras including a gravity sensor, A-GPS and a digital compass.
