Apple is considering a micro-sized edition of the iPad, it has been claimed, despite previously ruling out a smaller take on its best-selling tablet computer.
According to sources cited in a report from Czech tech site Superapple.cz, the slimmed down version will feature a screen measuring between five and seven inches and will drop in the autumn.
The claims fly in the face of a statement from Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs in which he ruled out a smaller form factor for future iPads on the grounds that it’s not fair to developers to have to consider a slew of device sizes for their wares.
Last week, rumours once again surfaced that a cheaper, more compact iPhone, waggishly dubbed the iPhone Nano, could be on the way, as Apple looks to challenge Android in the lower end of the smartphone market.
The Cupertino based tech giant is reputedly recycling parts from the iPhone 4 for the handset to keep manufacturing costs down.
