Orange and T-Mobile have cut the cost of owning the 3G-enabled iPad, presumably in a bid to clear stocks of the current-gen slate ahead of the mooted imminent launch of iPad 2.
As of today, you can grab the slate on Orange for £99 when you sign up to a 24-month contract. Prior to the price cut, you were looking at an outlay of £229 for new customers or £199 if you took another service from the carrier.
T-Mobile has also cut its asking price, offering the iPad for £99 when customers sign up for its 24 month deal at £25 per month.
The revamped price points, which are apparently only apply for a limited period, come amid a surge of speculation over Apple’s plans for its next-generation tablet.
Expected to arrive in June, rumours specs for the slate include a smaller form factor with a screen measuring between five and seven inches, dual cameras, a larger speaker and expandable memory – a first for an Apple device.
