The Samsung Galaxy S2 16GB edition has gone on pre-order at Expansys, ahead of an estimated due date of April 18th.
The retailer is offering the jewel of Samsung’s Galaxy line-up for 2011 for £649 when bought sans contract.
Unveiled at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) amid a welter of additions to the Galaxy range, the Galaxy S2 features a lavish 4.3-inch SuperAMOLED Plus display and an eight megapixel snapper with HD video recording.
In keeping with its direct competition in the Android space (the Sony Ericsson Arc and LG Optimus 3D), it’ll also feature a 1Ghz dual core processor to keep everything running super smoothly and the latest smartphone version of Android, AKA Gingerbread.
Other standout functions of the handset, which at just 8.5mm thick is being touted as the slimmest smartphone so far, include Near Field Communications (NFC) support for contactless payments and the usual array of connectivity options, think: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.
