Samsung is preparing a new Android tablet challenger with an 8.9-inch screen, it has been claimed.
Earlier this month, the South Korean phone maker lifted the lid on its second ever tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, with the rather literal title derived from its 10.1-inch Super AMOLED display.
Now it seems we’re also in for a slightly slimmed down version, too. That’s if a Samsung spokesperson cited by the Yonhap News Agency can be believed.
According to the report, Sammy will bring the 8.9-inch slate to market during the first half of 2011 and could even be here next month – presumably to give it the best chance possible against the likes of the HTC Flyer, LG Optimus Pad and Apple’s soon-come iPad 2.
Specs for the Tab 8.9 – that’s what we’re calling it until we hear different – are still as yet unconfirmed. But it’d be a surprise and then some if it didn’t at the very least feature a dual core processor, dual snappers and the tablet-optimised Honeycomb Android OS out of the box.
