iFans hoping for an all-new design for the fifth gen iPhone are likely to be disappointed, leaked images of iPhone 5 cases suggest.
Latterly, a slew of reports have surfaced positing that Apple design doyenne Jonny Ive has gone back to the drawing board for his next tilt at a smartphone.
Rumours suggested that the mooted next-gen phone would dispense with buttons altogether in favour of a larger edge to edge display and a fully touchscreen user interface.
Those forecasts look pretty wide of the mark right now, though, after Hardmac sourced what are purported to be snaps of iPhone 5 cases with spaces for buttons that exactly match those of the iPhone 4, along with identical slots for your SIM and for the 3.5mm headphone jack.
As is the way with all things down Cupertino way, other specs for the iPhone 5 remain tightly under wraps. However, if the online rumours mill is to believed, the device will see Apple scrap the troublesome all-glass exterior of iPhone 4 for an aluminium back.
The tech giant is also purportedly considering adding Near Field Communications tech for contactless payments and the same powerful A5 processor featured in the iPad 2.
