Fresh leaks from China point to a similar form factor for Apple’s iPhone 4 successor and an ‘edge-to-edge’ screen.
Chinese iPhone accessory vendor iDeals China claims to have got hold of images that appear to be design drawings for the fifth-generation iPhone with a screen that stretches from both ends of the bezel, though it looks largely unchanged elsewhere.
The site posted: “We just got what appears to be mold engineering drawings for iPhone 5. These would be used by case designers to create plastic, TPU, aluminum, silicone and leather cases.
“A while back we heard rumors that iPhone 5 would have a curved back but these images show iPhone 5 with the same form factor as iPhone 4 but with an edge to edge screen.”
iPhone 5 rumours have been doing the rounds lately, with reports emerging that Apple will do away with the iPhone 4’s ‘Gorilla glass’ back in favour of a return to an aluminium rear casing after users complained of scratches. Code unearthed in the just released iOS 4.3 has also hinted at an A5 processor for the handset - that's the same chipset as the iPad 2 which goes on sale today.
