Nokia and Rovio look set to make a major Angry Birds-related announcement at this year’s SXSW expo, a teaser video for joint press events suggests.
Posted on Nokia’s official blog, the clip trails two showcases on the 12th and 15th of March at the Austin Texas beano. It’s not clear exactly what will be announced, but the fact that they’re keen to stress that “something big is happening” hints that whatever it is, it’ll be pretty major.

For what it’s worth, we think that the “big” could refer to another bird coming exclusively to the Nseries smartphones version of the game. That’d certainly tie in with past form, with last year’s Nokia World enlivened by the announcment that the 'Mighty Eagle' smartbomb add-on was landing on the Finns’ high-end range of smarties.
Alternatively, and much more excitingly, it could be that we’re set to hear something about the 3D graphics version of Angry Birds that Rovio confirmed was in the works last month.
The fact that the Nokia N8 handles 3D graphics – that’s in the old-skool sense of the phrase rather than the all-new stereoscopic sense - better than most current-gen smartphones adds this more than a hint of credence.
Either way, keep ‘em peeled for news later this month when we’ll be bringing all the smartphone and tech developments from SXSW.
