Samsung has lifted the lid on a hitherto-unseen touch & type smartphone, aimed at broadening the Galaxy range’s appeal to enterprise users and heavy messagers.

The Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Pro – what is it about physical keyboards that merits the ‘Pro’ addendum? – features a 2.8-inch touchscreen, beneath which is a full-sized QWERTY keyboard for speedy text entry.
It’ll also pack a three-megapixel snapper with autofocus, an 800MHz processor to keep things ticking over and Sammy’s social networking focussed TouchWiz Android skin.
Somewhat disappointingly, it’ll ship with the ageing Froyo edition of Google’s OS, AKA Android 2.2, but we’re assured an update to the new Gingerbread iteration will be available soon.
3 has confirmed it’ll be carrying the Galaxy Pro on monthly contract deals, but alas there’s no confirmation on price points or availability just yet.
The carrier, which today unveiled a groundbreaking PAYG deal with unlimited data, will also be offering the Galaxy Mini and the flagship Galaxy S.
