The iPad-only newspaper Daily will hit iTunes before July, it has been revealed.
Launched in the US in February, the News Corp-owned paper offers common or garden news articles with more interactive tablet-friendly content.
Its impending launch on these shores was confirmed by the publishing giant’s head of digital, Jon Miller, during a press call at the Abu Dhabi Media Summit.
When asked for a concrete date for The Daily’s release in the UK, Miller demurred but confirmed that it will definitely show during the first half of 2011, The Guardian reports.
What’s not yet clear is whether we’ll be getting a version of the Daily tailored for the tastes of Brits or the existing US edition.
Currently, the US edition has garnered just 5,000 subscribers, suggesting that hopes that it would usher in a new, more profitable era for content providers could well be wide of the mark.
An Android tablet take on the newspaper is also expected some time this year, presumably to coincide with the arrival of the slew of Honeycomb powered slates due in the next few months.
