Winamp for Android has officially graduated from beta status to version one-point-oh, adding an app-etising new feature that’ll make music fans giddy with joy.
Version 1.0 comes with a tweaked user interface, but way more interestingly, also offers free music downloads directly to the device, courtesy of music streaming site Spinner.com.
By simply tapping the aptly titled ‘Free Music’ button on the home screen, users will gain access to a sizable collection of free-to-download tracks by new and up-and-coming bands, the likes of which include the excellent Gold Panda and Canadian indie-rockers The Rural Alberta Advantage.
Winamp, in case you’ve been hibernating the past decade or so, started out on Windows and has gone onto become one of the music player greats. It has already become the go-to music app for Google’s platform thanks to its simple user interface and wireless music syncing.
The app is free to download right now from the Android Market.
