Android 2.3.3 is currently being pushed out in select European nations, suggesting UK users won’t have too long to wait now.
In the UK, so far the sole network to have named a provisional date for a bump to Gingerbread is 3 via its Twitter feed.
The Tweet, posted in early April, stated that the network plans to have it available for download in the “next couple of weeks”. However, with the fortnight almost up, there’s no sign of the upgrade so far.
According to T3, the update has already begun in mainland Europe, with German, Austrian and Dutch consumers now on board with the update. That suggests, to us at least, that we won’t have to wait too long now either.
The update isn’t a major overhaul of Android by any stretch of the imagination. But it does bring some smart new features to the OS.
As well as numerous UI tweaks, Gingerbread’s highlights include an improved on-screen keyboard, enhanced copy and paste and slicker download management.
