Music legend David Bowie is re-releasing his single ‘Golden Years’ as an iPhone app, nearly four decades since it first hit the airwaves in 1975.
The app, set to coincide with the release of a Golden Years remix EP on June 6th, will feature Bowie’s lead vocal, eight stem files, 12-string guitar, bass, drums and variety of percussion options such as blocks, congas and claps, plus backing vocal, all of which fans will be able to use to create their own remix of the 16-track classic.
The EP itself will be sold separately on a CD, vinyl and digitally, and boast the original single, plus four remixes by KCRW DJs Chris Douridas, Jeremy Sole, Eric J Lawrence and Anthony Valadez.
According to EMI, all remixes have been heard by the man himself and would not have made the cut if they did not do justice to the original.
An iPhone remix app for of Bowie’s single Space Oddity is also available on iTunes for £1.19.
The Golden Years app will be available to download on June 6th.
