Android gamers have been warned to steer clear of a game purporting to be iPhone hit Tiny Wings, as yet more cheeky devs queue up to take advantage of the unregulated state of the Android Market.
The rip-off of Andreas Illiger’s charming title lifts the original’s look and feel wholesale. And in a blatant attempt to fleece gamers of their hard-earned app dollar, it even goes so far as to retain the Tiny Wings name.
Play it, though, and you’ll soon realise that it’s barely an iota of the craft and sheer love that went into the original. What you’ve got instead is an unpolished slab of guano with all the playability of a brick – as 71 furious gamers testify in the download store’s ratings section.
The news comes amid speculation that a much-sought-after Tiny Wings version of Android may never come the platform, after one-man-band dev Illiger said he lacks the manpower to bring it to Android right now.
More worrying for users, though, is that the fake Tiny Wings app once again highlights the dangers of the laissez-faire approach to its application market, which has been a huge factor in a surge in malware at the Android Market over the last 12 months.
