Harrods, the UK’s biggest department store-cum-world famous tourist destination, has launched its own app for the iPhone.
The Knightsbridge-based retailer, now owned by the state of Qatar following a £1.5billion takeover last year, has released an official application to help customers and tourists get more out of their ‘Harrods experience’.
Key functions include an interactive guide to help visitors find their way around the store, complimented by a 3D visualisation of the interiors, plus details and menus for all 29 restaurants in the store, as well as a dedicated section to educate punters about the high-end store’s history, a biography of the founder, Charles Henry Harrod, and a current news and events section.
Speaking to Marketing Magazine, Mark Briggs, Store Manager of Harrords, said: “The Harrods iPhone app is an exciting new way for us to further engage with our customers.
“We are continuously aiming to offer our customers the optimum level of service through use of new technology. With its useful tools and services, the Harrods app is set to become a vital part of the shopping experience at the store.”
High street heavyweight Debenhams also released an official app last year, as more and more retailers look to capitalise on the growing smartphone market to increase their brand awareness and encourage customer interaction.
The Harrods app for iPhone is free to download right now from the App Store.
