The A.R Drone RC ‘copter is coming to Android, Symbian and even Bada powered smartphones, boy-toy maker Parrot has confirmed.
Parrot announced plans to bring the four-blade chopper, which was a massive hit on the iPhone last Christmas, to other platforms at the E3 games expo on Tuesday.
The gadget, which makes those pocket-sized radio controlled helicopters look positively puny, is controlled by users tilting their handsets left and right to change direction.
There’s also some augmented reality games included in the package, whereby dogfights are overlaid on to your quotidian surroundings, plus a camera mode that lets you see things from a pilot’s perspective.
A.R Drone is yours for around £240 and will land on Android in July. Support for phones powered by Nokia and Samsung’s proprietary operating systems are expected later in the year.
Parrot has also launched a competition for Drone owners, which tasks them with completing a series of challenges for the right to compete in a grand final in Paris on October 1st.
