Angry Birds Rio owners with iPhones or Android kit can nab themselves a set of new challenges gratis today, with the arrival of an update for the most recent instalment of Rovio's casual gaming phenom.
Available to download now from the Apple App Store and the Android Market, the Carnival Upheaval update brings 15 new levels to play through, offering the series' now familiar fiendish physics-based gameplay as well as new foes such as marmosets and an all-new bird to get to grips with.
Rovio has also confirmed via Twitter that it now expects the Windows Phone 7 version of its blockbusting title to land at the end of the month. The long-awaited port to smartphones powered by Microsoft’s OS was originally scheduled to drop way back in April.
In typically loose-lipped style, Rovio hasn’t pulled its punches when explaining the delay. Back in February, a sardonic Peter Vesterbacka, who styles himself Rovio’s 'Mighty Eagle', laid the blame squarely on Microsoft and the strictures imposed its legal team.
