HTC’s first ever Android powered smartphone with 3D capabilities - the Evo 3D - will go on sale in Blighty on Vodafone, the network has confirmed.
Vodafone has updated its ‘Coming soon’ page for upcoming handsets to include the handset, which was just this week confirmed by HTC for a UK and European launch in July.
It’s not clear yet if like its recently launched cousin - the HTC Sensation - the Evo 3D will also be a timed-exclusive to Vodafone. However, it could be telling that so far it is the only UK carrier to have confirmed availability.
Unveiled in March at the CTIA expo, the Evo 3D is the second Android smartphone to support 3D without requiring special glasses. It will be going head-to-head with the LG Optimus 3D and has already drawn first blood against its Korean rival, which we’re told has been dropped by Vodafone from its coming soon line-up.
Standout features include a 4.3-inch qHD display, a powerful 1.2GHz Qualcomm dual core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which is expandable by a further 32GB via the microSD slot.
It’s also home to dual rear-mounted five-megapixel cameras that enables it to shoot videos in 3D and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera for video calls.
No word yet on a firm release date or pricing plans, but stay tuned for these to be announced imminently. Interested customers can register for updates on the Vodafone website.
