London’s black cab drivers are launching an innovative app for the iPhone that allows struggling commuters to hail a cab more easily.
LDNTaxiApp enables users to view taxis available within a two-mile radius of their location by utilising the iPhone’s GPS and those installed on the taxis, making it easier to determine the best spot to catch a ride.
The app also alerts cabbies in the vicinity to the customer’s location, saving punters the hassle of calling the cab company to dispatch a cab.
When the driver accepts the fare, the app automatically receives the driver’s picture along with details such as the registration number and colour of the cab. The customer can then confirm the fare on their phone if they wish to accept.
Better yet, the app notifies the customer when the cab has arrived for the pick-up, reminding that the meter is now running.
Pretty cool, eh? We think so too.
LDNTaxi will be available soon on the App Store.
