Nokia has announced that its annual Nokia World expo will take place in London on October 26th to 27th, kick-starting speculation that’s where we’ll catch our first glimpse of Espoo’s debut Windows Phone 7 effort.
The announcement follows a recent statement by Nokia boss Stephen Elop that he has “increased confidence” in delivering the company’s first Windows Phone 7 smartphone by the end of this year. This makes us hope we’ll at least get to see a pre-release version of the handset(s) even if it/they wind up not landing until early next year.
Back in February, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), Nokia showcased images of a colourful C7-style concept handset running Windows Phone 7. Stephen Elop has admitted that he’s already carrying around Nokia hardware with Microsoft’s OS onboard.
The big question we suspect that's on everyone’s mind is whether or not we’re in for a high-end, flagship smartphone in the same vein as the iPhone or the Google Nexus range, as it is equally possible that Nokia will continue to play to its strength with mid-range kit aimed at emerging markets.
The Finnish giant recently announced the N9, its first-ever MeeGo powered handset, which we can also expect to be showcased fully at the expo.
