Orange Barcelona cheap Android phone unveiled

Orange has unveiled a new budget-friendly Android contender dubbed the Barcelona, following the success of its similarly bargainous San Francisco.

Available exclusively on Orange, the San Fran packs Android 2.2 (AKA Froyo) out of the box and a full physical QWERTY for tapping out texts, emails and Facebook updates quicksmart.

It’s also home to a 2.6-inch TFT touchscreen, a functional 3.2-megapixel snapper and video calling, plus the standard array of connectivity options (think: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G).

And because it’s an Android phone, you’ll also get to choose from tens of thousands of apps from the Android Market and get a few choice Google apps pre-installed.

Orange is offering the phone for £139.99 on pay as you go, for which you’ll also get a free £20 top-up. Alternatively, you can grab it gratis on contracts of £15 or more over 24 months.

A concrete date for UK availability has yet to be confirmed. But you can probably expect it to drop in the next month or so.
