Vodafone has begun rolling out Android 2.3.3 to Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Xperia Play owners, burnishing the handsets’ credentials as yoof-friendly Facebook phones.
The update from Android 2.3.2 to the newest version of Google’s smartphone OS enables users to access and use Facebook faster and easier by allowing them to share music tracks on the site directly from the on board music player.
Also incoming with the platform bump is automatic syncing of the stock Xperia and Facebook calendars to make it simpler to keep on top of pressing social engagements.
As with most updates, there’s also some performance optimisations to look forward to. Not least longer battery life, improved HD video recording and a more responsive touchscreen.
If you want to get it 2.3.3, you’ll need to connect your handset to connect your phone to your computer via USB and open up the Sony Ericsson Update Service Application. Then just follow the onscreen instructions and you’re good to go.
News of Sony Ericsson’s efforts to keep on top of updates and roll them out quicksmart comes after it was heavily criticised for dragging its heels over Android upgrades with earlier models in the Xperia range.
