Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update causing Google Nexus One problems

Google Nexus One users on Vodafone are reporting problems with their phones after updating their handsets to Android 2.3.4, with a number of owners experiencing weaker 3G signals and mystery data usage.

Owners have taken to the Vodafone forums to complain about the issues. Among the problems raised is reduced battery life, with one user claiming standby time is down 50 per cent. The predictive text function is also not working for several users.

Alas, it doesn’t there. According to one uSwitch Tech reader, since installing the 2.3.4 edition of the software the handset’s 3G signal is weaker - making browsing “almost impossible in most areas”. The Nexus One is now inexplicably eating through the monthly data allowance quicker, he claims.

We’ve contacted Vodafone, which made the latest version of Gingerbread available for the Nexus One earlier this month for an official response to the matter. We’ll be sure to let you know what they say later today.
