One of the largest US mobile phone carriers is readying itself for the iPhone 5, reports suggest, adding weight to rumours the handset will land in September.
According to a source cited by Boy Genius Report, AT&T is detailing its launch plans for the handset to staff ahead of the launch.
The network has also reportedly informed store managers to have finished training staff as soon as possible so they’re ready for the now all too familiar deluge of customers descending on shops whenever a new iPhone drops.
Quite what Apple has planned for us with its fifth generation kit remains a mystery. However, speculation suggests it’ll be a lighter, slimmer model and will pack 4G support in the US.
The handset is also rumoured to offer NFC smarts to allow users to pay for low ticket items by swiping their phone over a reader a la Oyster Cards, advanced voice activation technology and an eight-megapixel camera.
Apple had been expected to release the handset back in June, but opted to postpone its launch for reasons that have yet to become clear.
