Three has started testing the latest version of Android for HTC Sensation owners, it has been confirmed, as the network bids to be the first UK carrier to push out version 2.3.4 of the platform to the handset.
HTC began to roll out 2.3.4 Gingerbread edition of Android last week for unlocked handsets bought off contract. Typically, smartphone owners who have bought their phone as part of a monthly deal face a lengthy wait while networks ensure that an operating system update works with their proprietary apps and services.
The good news if you’re a Three customer is that testing on the upgrade is go as of today, according to a post on Twitter. That ought to mean that an over the air update won’t be too far away.
Responding to a customer query from a Sensation owner on August 12th, Three stated: “Testing 2.3.4 is to start next week, but we don't have a planned release date yet. will let you know when we have more info.”
Although touted as something of a minor update, 2.3.4 still has a fair bit to offer. Features it brings to the Sensation include video chat support in Google Talk, as well as performance enhancements and bug fixes for an all-round smoother and more satisfying smartphone experience.
