Research In Motion (RIM) has announced that the latest version of its BlackBerry App World applications marketplace will go live today with an array of improvements.
BlackBerry App World 3.0 will boast a more streamlined interface for speedier access to apps, such as rotating banners on the home screen to show off the latest and greatest apps and content.
A new ‘My World’ feature is on board that stores titles you’ve previously downloaded. So if you accidentally or deliberately delete an app, it can be wirelessly reinstalled again with no additional cost. Whether this serves any other purpose has yet to be established.
A search bar is now available right from the top of the home screen, too, with the ability to sort results by App Name, Price, Rating, Newest, Best Match and Popular. There are also new channels for Games, Apps and Themes, along with sub categories and top 25 lists of Free, Paid, Recently Updated and New content.
The retooled store should give the BlackBerry the much-needed boost it needs to appeal as a more fun and less dry platform compared to iOS and Android.
