The much-rumoured, higher spec edition of the iPad 2 is set for release before the fourth quarter, a market analysis company claims.
Speculation that Apple is planning an upgraded edition of the iPad 2 first surfaced earlier this month. And if a Rodman and Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar is to believed, it will be here before the end of September.
According to Kumar, who gleaned his gen from supply chain sources, the device will rock front and rear facing HD cameras and will probably be aimed at so-called power users in “the publishing vertical and some other select segments”.
Kumar also echoed earlier speculation that the tablet, unofficially dubbed the iPad 2 Plus, will also feature a higher resolution screen than the current generation model.
News of developments at Apple HQ come amid signs that the Cupertino-based tech behemoth could also be planning a cheaper version of the iPad using lower-grade parts.
The low-end slate is intended to help see off the challenge of the next-generation of cut-price Android tablets in the nascent slate space.
