Motorola Pro+ business Android phone announced

Motorola has unveiled a new upgraded edition of its business-focussed Pro Android powered smartphone, heading for Europe and Asia next month.

Billed as a “personal assistant that fits right in your pocket”, the Pro+ is a refresh of the original Pro that landed in February, sporting a sleeker, curvier design this time around and a number of useful enhancements.

These include a bigger, 1600mAh battery rather than the 1420mAh number of its predecessor, a Gorilla glass enforced display of the same size – that is, 3.1 inches – as the original, except with an improved, 640x480 VGA resolution. It also rocks the latest, tastiest 2.3, aka Gingerbread, iteration of Google’s Android operating system out of the box.

Although the depth and width remains the same, the Pro+ is 1mm longer than the Pro, and like its older brother, boasts a 1GHz processor, a five-megapixel camera, and of course, a physical QWERTY keyboard.

Surprisingly though, it halves the onboard storage to just 4GB. Fortunately this can be easily expanded by up to 32GB via the microSD slot.

Elsewhere, it comes with the freshest release of Adobe Flash Player, version 10.3, along with QuickOffice Connect installed out of the box for creating and viewing documents on the move and a so-called ‘intuitive email’ feature that guesses the recipient as you are composing an email.

"The Motorola PRO+ is built for people who want to take the pressure off and consolidate their work and personal lives with an efficient smartphone that acts like your personal assistant,” Alain Mutricy, senior vice president of portfolio and device product management at Motorola Mobility, said in a statement.

"Today, with our demanding 24/7 lifestyles your smartphone should make your complex life easier and give you an edge at work and at play."

The Pro+ will land in October in Europe and Asia. Pricing details and networks to offer the handset at launch should be revealed in the coming weeks. So stay tuned.
