Samsung has confirmed that the next addition to its Galaxy family of smartphones, the Galaxy R, will be landing in the UK after all.
The Korean phone-maker announced last month that it would be launching the handset in select countries in Europe, but gave no indication whether it would be eventually landing in our fair isle too.
Well, it appears your prayers have been answered after Samsung reportedly gave a green signal for its UK release, according to 3g.co.uk.
Billed as a cheaper alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S2, the Galaxy R is anything but low-end in specs thanks to a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, accompanied by a NVIDIA GEFORCE GPU – making it something of a gaming powerhouse.
In fact, owners will able to purchase games specially created with NVIDIA’s chip in mind from the Tegra Zone download store.
Elsewhere, it’s home to a 4.19-inch Super LCD touchscreen, a five-megapixel camera with HD recording skills in 720p, a front-facing 1.3-megapixel VGA for video calls, 8GB of internal storage (expandable by a further 32GB via the microSD slot) and the latest, tastiest build of Android Gingerbread installed out of the box.
Exactly when we can expect the handset to hit store shelves or how much it will cost is still a mystery. Rest assure we’ll bring you all the gen as soon as we have it.
