Orange has waived the upfront charge of £99 on the Samsung Galaxy S2 for a limited period, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-promotion on Sammy’s fast-selling smartphone ever.
Until September 12th, all customers who buy the handset online on Orange’s Canary tariff over 24 months will get the S2 free. They’ll also qualify for 600 anytime call minutes and unlimited texts, plus the option to add 1Gb of mobile web use for an additional monthly fee of a shade over £10 per month.
It’s been hard to escape the S2 of late. Said kit has topped our mobile tracker for months now and has raced to five million sales. But in case you’re not au fait, it’s an Android 2.3-toting smartphone with a brawny 1.2GHz dual core processor that means it runs smoother than Don Johnson circa 1985.
Not sold? It’s also home to a rear facing eight megapixel camera, a secondary snapper for video calls, plus a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen that gives the iPhone 4’s retina display a real run for its money.
