Sony Ericsson’s (SE) newest Android contender, the Xperia Ray, is coming to Vodafone on monthly contract deals, a listing on the carrier’s ‘coming soon’ page reveals.
A close relation of SE’s other flagship phone for 2011, the Ray rocks Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box with the handset-maker’s proprietary TimeScape custom skin slathered on top.
It’s also home to a backlit 3.3-inch Reality display featuring the same Bravia screen tech you find in Sony televisions and an 8.1 megapixel snapper with autofocus, LED flash, touch-focus, face detection, image stabilisation and 720p HD video recording.
And rounding things off is microSD card support to allow you boost storage by up to 32GB, a sleek aluminium frame and a 1GHz processor that ought to combine with the latest version of Android to provide a smartphone experience with some real snap about it.
Vodafone has yet to confirm pricing or when the handset will go sale. But earlier indications from retailers suggest it’ll be dropping any day now.
