Sony Ericsson’s (SE) burgeoning Xperia range of Android smartphones got a new addition today, in the form of the Gingerbread-toting Xperia V.
Set to land in the UK during Q4, the handset packs the newest version of Android (aka Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread) out of the box as well as a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.
It’s also home to a 3.7-inch TFT Reality display featuring the same Mobile Bravia Engine technology that features in the high-end Xperia Arc, plus a five-megapixel rear facing camera with HD video recording and a secondary camera for video calls.
News of the Xperia V comes as SE today announced it plans to begin pushing out Android 2.3.4 to its existing Xperia branded handsets from October.
However, this date only applies for unbranded phones bought off contract. If you got your handset on a monthly contract, you’ll likely face a wait while your network approves the update and completes testing.
