Samsung is reworking the look and feel of the Samsung Galaxy S3, one of the mobile industry’s best-connected analysts has claimed, forcing the company to postpone its launch until after the Christmas rush.
According to a Twitter update Eldar Murtazin, whose track record includes breaking the news that Nokia was in negotiations with Microsoft months before anyone else, Sammy’s next flagship Galaxy phone is now scheduled for a February 2012 release – rather than Q4 of this year as had been expected.
The move was fuelled by Apple’s decision to significantly revamp the look of its handset, which in turn, prompted Samsung to look into “doing the same for the galaxy3[sic],” Murtazin claims.
Alas, what isn’t clear from the tweet – there’s no mention of sources, for instance - is whether it’s the iPhone 5 that our man is talking about or a future generation Apple handset that wouldn’t be due for a couple more years at least.
Assuming it’s the former, however, his comments definitely add credence to rumours that the fifth-gen iPhone could be a major departure design-wise from its predecessor.
Either way, we’ll find out soon enough, with Apple now expected to unveil its latest handset challenger to the world on October 4th.
