Samsung has announced it will be launching a new, dedicated Android app store for premium apps.
Imaginatively named ‘Premium Samsung Apps Store for Android’, the market will offer paid apps and games that have been optimised for Samsung’s range of Android-based devices.
Simon Stanford, Managing Director of Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland, said: “Anyone that signs up to Samsung Apps Store for Android today, will find a multitude of free and premium apps already available.
“In the spirit of providing Android users with the best possible mobile experience, it is our intention to continue to develop this premium service to ensure our customers have access to all the latest great content on Android.”
Samsung owners in the UK will be the first to access the new store. Titles available include The Sims 3 HD, Need for Speed Shift HD, Zenonia and 9mm. There is no sign up process involved and apps can only be paid for by credit card at the moment. However, Samsung has confirmed that in the future users will be able to add their purchases to their phone bills and eventually pay with their top-up credit if they are on pay as you go.
If you live in Blighty, you can access the store on a browser at www.samsungapps.com.
