Nokia handsets could soon be bundled with Monster headphones, reports suggest, as the phone-maker looks to add a sheen of cool to its much-tarnished brand.
Promo posters touting the partnership sourced by Pocketnow suggest a hook-up between the cans-manufacturer and everyone’s favourite fallen Finns is already done deal.
And in the ‘yeah, we’re down’ yoof speak used therein (CF: ‘Fierce’) and ravey davey lurid colours, it’s not hard to see what Nokia’s legion of trad daddios expect to get out of the collaboration.
What Monster get out of it isn’t yet fully clear. But even if the company’s headphones are bundled solely with Nokia’s top-end kits, that’s a lot of orders that just landed in their lap.
The deal comes after HTC recently confirmed that select Android and Widows Phone smartphones are to feature Beats by Dre audio tech and come with a free pair of the Hip-Hop production wizard’s headphones.
HTC perceives the collaboration will help distinguish its smartphones in an increasingly crowded market. Dr Dre, meanwhile, perceives the cheque he received for $300 million from HTC will keep him in low-riders, rims and autoharps for years to come.
