LG will not be making the latest version of Android available for its dual-core processor-toting Optimus 2X smartie, crushing the dreams of owners everywhere.
Doubt over whether Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) would wend it way to the handset has been rife for months. Having initially appeared to ruled out an update, LG subsequently backtracked and said it was still re-assessing the situation.
Well, it appears that a decision has now been made. And it’s not one that’s likely to please Optimus 2X owners.
In a post on its official Facebook page, LG stated it categorically, unequivocally “will not be introducing Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich updates on LG Optimus 2X P990”.
LG’s move, which is likely to cause mass outbreaks of The Fury in users, is somewhat strange, given that, on paper at least, the Optimus 2X has more than enough processing brawn to be able to handle ICS.
Owners of the Optimus 3D and Optimus Black are still waiting on news re: LG’s plans for ICS. But you'd have to say that right now, the omens aren't good...
