Motorola Razr release date delayed

Motorola Razr release date delayed

Motorola’s latest Android challenger will go on sale a week later than expected, as phone-makers gear up for a battle royale in the fourth quarter.

The Razr was originally expected to hit store shelves on November 1st/2nd, giving it a two-weeks-plus window to hoover up column inches and sales before the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus arrive around the middle of the month.

However, according to online retailer Clove, the Razr now won’t drop until a week later, eating into Moto’s kit’s early advantage against its more widely touted rivals.

The site stated: "Unfortunately we have just heard that the Razr release will be delayed until next week.

"No reason given for the delay at the moment, we did think the 1 [of November] and then the 2 [also November, obvs] were pretty solid, especially as the 2nd was reconfirmed last Friday."

Unveiled last month, at 7.1mm-thick the Razr is being touted as the world’s thinnest smartphone, but still packs in Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) out of the box, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display and an eight megapixel camera with 1080HD video recording.

The smartie that Moto hopes will revive the long-defunct Razr brand also rocks a stainless steel construction, Kevlar backplate and – in select territories – 4G support for super fast mobile web browsing.
