Motorola unveils MotoKey Social Facebook phone

Hot on the heels of its announcement of the new Android powered Razr, Motorola has officially unveiled its debut Facebook phone, the MotoKey Social.

Known previously as the Motorola EX225, the aptly named MotoKey Social is home to a dedicated Facebook button in a design that very much takes after the HTC ChaCha with a 2.4-inch touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard combination.

Also on board is a three-megapixel snapper with digital zoom, an FM radio receiver, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi, microUSB connector and a 3.5mm headset jack.

Surprisingly enough, the MotoKey Social runs on a bespoke operating system called Brew from chipmaker Qualcomm rather than Android. This been specially designed for instant access to the handset’s key messaging and social networking functions for users who can’t be fussed with advanced tech and/or have busy lifestyles.

So far the handset has only been confirmed for Canada. But we definitely expect it to land in Blighty eventually as well in emerging markets, though possibly under a different name.
