Nokia’s debut Windows phone goes on pre-order tomorrow on Vodafone, ahead of its official launch on contract deals on November 16th.
The carrier is offering the first 10,000 customers who pre-order the kit free vouchers worth £60 to spend on everything from music from Zune, Starbucks coffees or “anything you fancy from Amazon”. And they’ll also throw in their Data Test Drive offer, which allows subscribers unlimited mobile data usage for the first three months of their contract.
Price plans remain under-wraps right now. But, in keeping with the New Model Nokia’s aggressive strategy, the phone is expected to be available free from around £26 per month.
Touted as the kit most likely to rescue the Finnish phone-maker’s ailing smartphone business, the Lumia 800 features Windows Mango’s natty tile-based user interface and rocks a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen and eight megapixel snapper with Carl Zeiss optics.
Other highlights include a 1.4Ghz processor, 16GB of internal storage and an innovative design that takes in a unibody polycarbonate shell and dispenses entirely with front-facing physical buttons.
