Samsung and Microsoft will lift the lid on a Windows 8 tablet at this week’s CES gadget expo, reports suggest, as the Big M gears up to go out with a bang at its last-ever appearance at the event.
Analysts from Ovum claim that the slate will make its debut at Microsoft’s keynote address at CES 2012, which kicked off in Las Vegas yesterday.
Samsung, whose Galaxy Tab Android efforts haven’t set the world alight but are probably the most popular tablets running Google’s OS, has reportedly manufactured the slate on Microsoft’s behalf.
Ovum stated: “We will be looking for more insight into Windows 8 beyond the 2011 preview and specific information on release dates and form factors, including a hands-on with Samsung's Windows 8 tablet.”
As with Google’s attempt to unify its fragmented Android platform with Ice Cream Sandwich, Microsoft hopes that that Windows 8 will bring a greater consistency of user experience across its tablets, smartphones, desktops and laptops.
