CES 2012: Nokia Lumia 900 to be ‘metallic’, announcement imminent

Nokia’s upcoming, hitherto unconfirmed flagship kit – the Lumia 900 – will reportedly boast a metal body, the New York Times claims.

The 900 – also known as the ‘Ace’ – has been the subject of much speculation, with numerous leaks pointing to a device that ups the ante in the hardware stakes overs its predecessor the Lumia 800. And if the NY daily’s sources are to be trusted, Nokia will pull back the curtain on the handset at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Mooted specs on board the 900 include a 1.4GHz Qualcomm processor (most definitely single-core), a 4.3-inch WVGA ‘ClearBlack’ display, an eight-megapixel camera (plus a secondary front-facing cam for video calls) and for countries that have adopted the 4G standard, LTE support, too.

It will also increase battery capacity to 1830mAh, no doubt to alleviate the widespread battery issues suffered by its predecessor, and measure a none-too-shabby 12mm thick with a weight of 5.64 ounces.

In terms of design, it’s unlikely to deviate much from the slick candybar form of the Lumia 800, which has won plaudits from consumers and critics alike for its button-less design.

Stay tuned as we bring you more news and announcements regarding the Lumia 900 in the days to come.
