HTC has begun sending out press invites to an event on the eve of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), hinting at the possibility that it might be ready to lift the lid on its debut quad core smartphone, the Edge.
Although the Taiwanese manufacturer will hold a press conference during MWC as well, which runs from February 27th to March 1st, it might try to steal a march on rivals and drum up hype by unveiling its first flagship smartphone of the year a day in advance.
By all indications so far, the Edge is most likely to be that phone and will be powered by a brawny 1.5GHz quad core Tegra 3 chipset from NVIDIA.
Also mooted to be on board is a 4.7-inch display with a native 720p HD resolution, an eight-megapixel camera and the latest Ice Cream Sandwich release of Android out of the box.
The Edge will likely go head to head with the Samsung Galaxy S3, also expected to be showcased at MWC and featuring a similar set of specs.
