iPhone 4S owners are tearing through their mobile internet usage allowances at twice the rate of the users of the iPhone 4, a study has revealed.
According to data from number crunchers at US network technology company Arieso, iFans with the fifth-gen Apple phone use twice as much data as iPhone 4 owners and get through triple the data of iPhone 3G owners.
The cause of the spike is the attention-grabbing, back-chatting Siri voice commands app, Reuters reports.
Or at least it is in the US, where, unlike here in Blighty, Siri actually supports local businesses for genuinely useful voice searches.
Commenting on the findings, Michael Flanagan of Arieso said: "I use the iPhone 4 myself and when I first heard of the iPhone 4S features I was not compelled to rush out and get one. However, the data usage numbers I am seeing make me wonder what I am missing.”
Signs of Siri’s popularity with users comes after reports surfaced last month that Apple could be looking to make changes to the app to provide a feel closer to that of actual human interaction.
