The next-gen iPhone and flagship Samsung Galaxy smartphones could be waterproof, thanks to a miracle spray that swaddles handsets’ innards in a protective coating.

According to Pocket Lint, the nanotech spray, dubbed HZO, is so water-resistant that users can fully submerge their phones in water without ill effect.
And so impressed are major industry players Apple and Samsung that they're reportedly in negotiations with HZO with a view to getting the spray on board their kits as soon as possible.
A rep told Pocket Lint: “We showed the Samsung Chairman the technology with a Samsung Galaxy S that we had coated with HZO and he couldn't believe his eyes. Samsung is really excited by the tech."
The company also claims that it’s “talking to Apple” and that it hopes that HZO will feature in the iPhone 5, which is expected to drop towards the end of the third quarter.
The as-yet-unconfirmed Samsung Galaxy S3 is likely to drop next month at the Mobile World Congress expo.
News of developments will be a boon to insurers as much as to clumsy consumers, with one million phones reportedly damaged by exposure to water annually.
